Malaysia's aging population is increasing the importance of long-term care, community support and sustainable approaches to healthy aging. Longer life expectancy, changing household structures, urbanization, workforce pressures and continued reliance on family caregiving are creating new challenges for health services, communities, providers and policymakers. The first collection within this Knowledge Hub explores Malaysia Aging, Long-Term Care & Community Support, with additional specialist collections considered as the library develops.

This Knowledge Hub examines Malaysia's evolving approach to aging, long-term care, home and community-based support, family caregiving, financing, workforce development and care quality. It forms part of the wider International Knowledge Hub within Impact Insights Hub, providing practical insight for providers, policymakers, researchers, health systems and community care leaders examining how countries are adapting health, social and community systems for an aging population.

Articles will explore aging in place, home care, residential aged care, community services, long-term care financing, informal caregiving, dementia, rehabilitation, workforce capacity, rural access, safeguarding, medication safety, digital technology, age-friendly housing, quality assurance and integrated care. Particular attention will be given to Malaysia's mixed public-private health and care landscape, the central role played by families, differences between urban and rural communities and the challenge of developing a more coordinated continuum of long-term support.

The series will also examine how demographic change may reshape expectations of government, families, employers, providers and communities. As demand grows, Malaysia faces important questions about how long-term care should be funded, how care work should be professionalized, how unpaid carers can be supported, how quality should be governed and how people can remain independent within their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

The collection will consider the wider international relevance of Malaysia's experience without assuming that its policies or service models can simply be transferred elsewhere. As the library grows, it will provide an increasingly substantial English-language resource on how Malaysia is responding to population aging and developing sustainable approaches to long-term care and community support.
